Recent years have seen a huge boom in opportunities for the Ontario (and Canadian) animation industry, led in no small part by the COVID pandemic, a massive appetite for more new content from audiences around the world, and the massive demand for more content from leading streamers. Unfortunately, it seems that the shine is wearing off the golden era of animation production, as streamers face increased competition and audiences are being served an overflowing cornucopia of new content to consume. Add to this the realities of post-pandemic production and shifting opportunities and challenges in platforms and content, and it’s clear that we are in for some interesting times.
